Evidence-Based Reporting

What Changed, and How We Know

This page combines verified figures with stories, reports, photographs and lessons. At launch it is better to publish a smaller amount of well-supported evidence than impressive figures that cannot be defended.

Impact at a Glance

Every statistic must have an internal source and reporting period.

Use an editable counter block. Keep the entire block unpublished until the underlying records have been reviewed.

Method

How We Count

A consistent counting method applied across every published figure.

01

Communities Reached

Identify the specific communities, schools or local government areas in which FDI has delivered documented work. For each location, provide the programme name, date, target group, activity and verified result. Do not colour an entire state or region as covered because one activity took place in a single city.

02

People Trained

Report the number of unique participants who completed or substantially participated in structured learning activities. Separate registrations, attendance and completion so that the website does not overstate reach. Break down by gender, age range, location or category only where data was collected responsibly.

03

Projects Delivered

List completed projects with dates, locations, purpose, activities, outputs and outcomes. A workshop, campaign, conference and long-term programme should not automatically be counted as equivalent projects. Define the counting method and apply it consistently.

Human Evidence

Success Stories and Testimonials

The strongest stories include a clear starting point, the intervention, the participant’s action and an observable result.

Success Stories

Consent before publication

Success stories should show how a participant, volunteer, school, group or community used an FDI opportunity and what changed afterwards. Obtain informed consent before publishing names, photographs or personal details, and allow a participant to remain anonymous where public identification could create discomfort or risk.

Testimonials

Attributable and traceable

Testimonials should come from identifiable and consenting participants, facilitators, community representatives or partners. Each quote should include the person’s approved name, role, programme and date. Avoid vague, anonymous praise that cannot be traced to a real activity. Light editing for grammar is acceptable, but meaning must not be changed.

Documentation

Reports, Annual Reports and Gallery

Reports help partners understand FDI’s delivery discipline.

Project Reports

Objectives to lessons learned

Publish concise programme reports explaining objectives, participants, activities, expenditure summary where appropriate, results, challenges, lessons and next steps. Provide a Reports content type or document library with filters for year, programme and category. Remove private personal data before uploading any report.

Annual Reports

Board-approved only

The annual report should present the organisation’s work, governance, partnerships, financial overview, lessons and priorities for the year ahead, including only verified information approved by the Board or authorised leadership. Do not create retrospective reports without reliable records.

Photo and Video Gallery

Consent, alt text, compression

Group media by programme or event, add useful captions and avoid uploading several near-identical photographs. Every image needs consent, descriptive alternative text, a meaningful filename and appropriate compression. Photographs of children require approved parental or guardian consent.

If historical annual reports are not available, the website may state that FDI is strengthening its reporting systems and will publish future reports as they are completed.
