Our Identity
Fasttrack Development Initiative is a nonprofit and non-governmental organisation committed to developing responsible leaders, expanding opportunity and supporting community-driven progress.
Who We Are
Based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, we design and support initiatives in leadership, education, entrepreneurship, digital inclusion, civic engagement, peacebuilding and social responsibility.
We work with young people, schools, community organisations, volunteers, professionals and institutional partners. Our approach is practical: understand the need, design a relevant response, mobilise the right people, deliver responsibly and measure what changed.
Why We Exist
Many young people have talent and ambition but limited access to the guidance, networks, practical education and opportunities that can help them move forward. Communities also face leadership gaps, unemployment, digital exclusion, weak civic participation and social tensions that cannot be solved by slogans.
FDI exists to close part of that gap. We create spaces where people can learn, question, practise, connect and take action. Participants should leave our programmes with more than inspiration — with useful skills, clearer choices, stronger relationships and an achievable next step.
Vision Statement
A future where empowered young people lead responsibly, create opportunities and build peaceful, inclusive and thriving communities.
Mission Statement
To equip young people and underserved communities with leadership, education, enterprise and digital skills, while building partnerships that turn local ideas into measurable and sustainable development.
Our Values
Non-negotiable standards that govern how every programme is designed, delivered and reported.
Value 01
We act honestly, keep our commitments and refuse to manipulate information. We report our work as it happened, acknowledge mistakes and protect the trust placed in us.
Value 02
We accept responsibility for our decisions, resources and results. We define roles clearly, document our activities and make appropriate information available to leadership, partners and communities.
Value 03
We treat every person with dignity, listen to different perspectives and recognise the knowledge that communities and participants bring to the work.
Value 04
We design programmes that widen participation and reduce barriers affecting girls, women, people with disabilities, underserved schools, vulnerable groups and marginalised communities.
Value 05
We place community needs and participant growth above personal recognition. Our programmes should create useful value, not simply visibility for the organisation.
Value 06
We work with people and institutions that bring complementary knowledge, resources and access. We value clear roles, shared learning and mutual accountability.
Value 07
We remain open to evidence, feedback and new approaches. We test ideas, measure results and improve programmes based on what participants and communities teach us.
Strategic Direction
Each objective connects to specific programmes, indicators and reporting responsibilities.
Objective 01
Equip young people with self-leadership, ethical decision-making, communication, civic understanding and community problem-solving skills.
Objective 02
Provide learning opportunities that improve personal, professional, digital and community-development capabilities, particularly for underserved participants.
Objective 03
Support young people to develop viable businesses, improve workplace readiness, understand finance and connect with mentors, markets and opportunities.
Objective 04
Increase access to technology, digital knowledge and supportive learning environments for girls, women and underserved schools and communities.
Objective 05
Create safe spaces for dialogue, civic learning, conflict prevention and constructive participation in community affairs.
Objective 06
Work with communities, institutions, volunteers and development partners to design relevant programmes and sustain useful results beyond the initial intervention.
Objective 07
Improve governance, financial systems, safeguarding, monitoring, documentation, staff development and resource mobilisation so that FDI can deliver consistently and grow responsibly.
Global Alignment
FDI's programme direction aligns most closely with SDG 4 — Quality Education, SDG 8 — Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 16 — Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
SDG 4
Learning, capacity building and reducing the educational gap affecting underserved schools and communities.
SDG 8
Enterprise development, employability, financial capability and access to markets and mentors.
SDG 16
Responsible leadership, civic participation, dialogue, conflict prevention and accountable institutions.
Individual programmes may also contribute to SDG 1 — No Poverty, SDG 3 — Good Health and Well-being, SDG 5 — Gender Equality, SDG 9 — Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 10 — Reduced Inequalities. SDG icons should be placed only on programme pages where the activities and intended outcomes have a clear relationship to the relevant goal.
Leadership and Governance
FDI is guided by a governance structure that separates strategic oversight from day-to-day management. The Board provides direction, approves major policies and budgets, and helps ensure that the organisation remains mission-aligned and legally compliant. The Executive Director coordinates operations, programmes, partnerships and reporting.
As FDI grows, programme, finance, administration, communication and volunteer functions will operate through defined responsibilities and reporting lines. This structure is intended to strengthen accountability while keeping the organisation flexible enough to respond to community needs and partnership opportunities.
